I also love how much of what I discard enriches my compost. I have had more success with my compost pile since I started microgreens versus before.

I have a traditional style compost pile which I have to keep covered with a tarp because of how much the wind blows at my property. The coconut coir helps the compost retain moisture better so if I forget to replace the tarp or the wind blows it off which it does occasionally, my compost pile isn’t completely desiccated.

I also have a product called a worm buffet which is an in-ground worm composter. Since adding the discards from my microgreens to what I normally put in there, the soil has become richer in that area and the worms are much bigger and fatter and healthier.

I love microgreens because not only does it make an impact in my health and my family’s health but it is also making an impact in the health of the soil where I live.
